Welcome!

Hello and welcome to my blog! Not that I expect anyone who doesn’t know me to view this, but in the off chance that does happen my name is Katie. I am a late-twenty-year old girl living in a (not-so) lonely world. I am an HR professional by day and a wannabe chef/fashionista/Jillian Michaels by night. Due to my job being very tactical which does satisfy my Type-A tendencies, I needed a way to get my creative juices flowing. So, here we are!

A little background about me: I was born, raised and currently reside in Northern Virginia. My hobbies include trying new recipes, finding great deals but also understanding why money doesn’t grow on trees, figuring out how to stay trendy while being short and curvy and most importantly binge watching Friends (in case you were wondering I am totally a Monica). I come from a true big, fat, Greek family with three superstar younger brothers. My love for frugality definitely comes from my mom while my sensitivity and desire to travel comes from my dad. I guess one would say my biggest differentiator or something that tends to make me stand out is that I was diagnosed with a condition called Hereditary Spastic Paraplegia (HSP) when I was 7.  HSP is a hereditary neurological condition that affects everyone differently, but for me it affects my gait and the way I walk. Living with HSP has led me to always look at life as the (tea)cup half-full. I tend to shy away from talking about it, not because I don’t want to, but because I don’t want it to be the only thing that defines me. That being said, through this new outlet and starting to share more about living with HSP,  I’ve been able to connect with others who also deal with it and draw inspiration from them. I also realized that a lot of my actions, behaviors and attitudes that do define me are driven because of lessons learned from living with HSP. I hope that at least one person will relate to my posts or find them helpful because I just want people to know they’re not alone! I look forward to sharing and connecting and welcome any feedback, questions or comments! I’m ready to Spill the Katie!
